Jason Milano, MSHI, RHIA has over 12 years of experience in health information management. Jason started their career at Carraway Hospital as an Inpatient/Outpatient Coder, responsible for coding various types of medical records. Jason then moved to UAB Medicine, where they worked as a DRG Specialist, providing advanced skills in coding and optimizing DRG assignment. Jason later became an Inpatient Coding Manager, supervising a team of twenty coders and collaborating with the CDI team for documentation improvement strategies.
Currently, Jason is the Director of Health Information Management at Children's of Alabama. In this role, they oversee all aspects of the HIM department, including chart completion, deficiency management, scanning, data integrity, forms creation, release of information, tumor registry, and hospital coding. Jason also serves as the ARCR representative for HIM services for Epic conversion.
Throughout their career, Jason has demonstrated expertise in coding accuracy, CDI, and quality initiatives.
Jason Milano, MSHI, RHIA completed their education in Health Informatics and Health Information Management at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Jason earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management from 2005 to 2008, followed by their Masters of Science degree in Health Informatics from 2011 to 2013.
