Venkat Shankar

Venkat Shankar serves as the Medical Director of the Cardiac ICU and Associate Division Chief of Cardiac Critical Care Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since May 2017. Concurrently, Venkat holds the position of Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine since July 2018. Prior roles include Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care at Children's National Health System from January 2013 to March 2017, and Section Chief of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children from 2007 to 2010. Venkat's academic career also includes positions as Associate and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Educational qualifications include a Master Teacher Leadership Certificate from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, an MBA from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management, and an MBBS from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
