Dan Cahill has extensive experience in recreation and community services, currently serving as Land Steward and Recreation Coordinator for the City of Burlington since 2005. In these roles, Dan coordinates various recreation services aimed at promoting lifelong leisure learning, with a focus on programming for school-age youth, families, and adult and senior activities. Prior to this, Dan worked as an Administrative Coordinator with the Department of Parks and Recreation, where responsibilities included program development and fundraising for federal summer feeding programs. Earlier experience includes work as an Innkeeper at Heart of the Village Inn, handling a variety of guest services and maintenance tasks. Dan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Outdoor Recreation Management from the University of Vermont, completed in 2003.

Burlington is the largest city in the State of Vermont with a population of nearly 40,000. The city covers 15.5 square miles on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain. There are four colleges in the city including the University of Vermont, (UVM). The University is located overlooking the city on a 451-acre campus which includes undergraduate, graduate, and medical schools. In addition there are two colleges within the city: Champlain College which occupies more than 40 buildings on over 22 acres, as well as Burlington College, which is smaller in size.
