Luiza Pire

Associate at The Cohen Group

Luiza Pire joined The Cohen Group in September 2020. Previously, Ms. Pire worked in Strategic Partnerships at the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). In this role, she monitored policy developments in the transatlantic space and facilitated relationships among stakeholders on both sides of the Atlantic. She also closely observed and pursued evolving business development priorities, managed cross-program grants, and assisted in the production of major forums in Washington DC, Marrakesh, and Brussels.

Prior to GMF, Ms. Pire conducted research on mine action and human security in post-conflict environments at the Center for International Stabilization and Recovery for the US Department of State-funded Journal of Conventional Weapons Destruction. She also spent time at the US Embassy in Tirana, Albania and the Albanian Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. In both organizations, she engaged with high-level officials to strengthen US-Albania relations and advanced initiatives on democracy building, civic engagement among youths, and economic development in Albania.

Ms. Pire is currently pursuing an M.A. in International Relations, focusing on peace, security and conflict, at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. She graduated cum laude from James Madison University with a B.A. in International Relations and Political Science with minors in History and Italian.

Ms. Pire is fluent in English and Albanian and is conversational in Italian.
