Mehrshad Nourani has worked in various roles since 1998. From 1998 to 1999, they worked as a Senior Planner/Administrator for the Jefferson - Chalmers Citizens' District Council, where they deployed the first GIS application and authored the District's first comprehensive economic and residential plan. From 1999 to 2011, they worked as a Senior GIS Analyst for the Southwest Florida Water Management District. From 2011 to present, they have worked as a Chief Technology Officer, Chief Data Scientist - GISP, GCGS for the U.S. Census Bureau, and Chief Data Scientist for The Coleman Group Inc. At the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, they worked as a Research Analyst IV from 2011 to present, utilizing GIS and SAS to analyze health related information for the state of Kansas and modernizing the GIS system by creating automated geoprocessing and address matching applications.
Mehrshad Nourani received a Master's degree in GIS/Regional Planning from the University of Michigan - Rackham Graduate School between 1996 and 1998. From 1993 to 1996, they studied Political Science at the University of Michigan, with a focus on US Constitution/International relations. Between 2015 and 2017, they completed a Master's degree in Geography and Geoinformation Sciences at George Mason University, as well as a graduate certificate in geographic information sciences, focusing on Geography and Cartography. Mehrshad is currently enrolled at George Mason University, but has not received any additional certifications.
