Virginia Spivey

Virginia Spivey is a seasoned educator and administrator in the field of art history and humanities, currently serving as the Director of AP Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment at The College Board since October 2019. Previously, Virginia held various academic positions, including E-course Instructor at Rutgers University - Camden and Adjunct Faculty at the Maryland Institute College of Art. As an Independent Educational Consultant from 2009 to 2019, Virginia specialized in curricular design and digital pedagogies while also serving as Editor in Chief of Art History Teaching Resources. Virginia's impressive background includes a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Art at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and roles at prestigious institutions such as Georgetown University, Glenstone Museum, and the Cleveland Center of Contemporary Art. Virginia holds a Ph.D. in Art History and has a robust history of developing educational programs and supporting teacher and student engagement in art and humanities.
