Amelia Atieno is a seasoned legal practitioner with a diverse background in various legal roles spanning over a decade. Currently serving as a Legal Practitioner at MA since July 2019 and a Senior Legal Officer at the Commission on Administrative Justice Office of the Ombudsman in Kenya since May 2016, Amelia has gained substantial experience in legal advice, brief preparation, and administrative justice. Prior experience includes positions as a Legal Officer in the Government from August 2011 to April 2016, an Advocate and Project Officer at The CRADLE from 2010 to 2011, and an Advocate at Buluma & Co Advocates from 2006 to 2009. Amelia holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Moi University, and is pursuing a Master of Laws in Public International Law at the University of Nairobi.

The Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman)
The Commission on Administrative Justice, more commonly known as (Office of the Ombudsman), is a constitutional commission established under Article 59(4) of the Constitution, and the Commission on Administrative Justice Act, 2011. The mandate of Office of the Ombudsman is two-fold, and extends to both national and county governments. Firstly, the Commission has the mandate of tackling maladministration (improper administration) in the public sector. In this regard, the Commission is empowered to, among other things, investigate complaints of delay, abuse of power, unfair treatment, manifest injustice or discourtesy. Secondly, the Commission has the mandate of overseeing and enforcing the implementation of the Access to Information Act, 2016
