Helen Smetheram has a diverse work experience starting in 1999 as a Middle School Technology Coordinator/Teacher at Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School. Helen then worked as a Student Information System Manager at the Archdiocese of Baltimore from 2004 to 2007. Following that, they served as a Project Manager/Instructor at the Center for Technology in Education, Johns Hopkins University from 2007 to 2010. Helen then joined Laureate Education as an Instructional Design Manager from 2010 to 2015, where they managed a team of 18 Instructional System Designers and served on the Vendor Management Team. Their next role was as a Senior Instructional Designer at The Catholic University of America from 2015 to 2022, where they led and implemented multiple courses and workshops and directed the transition to emergency remote teaching. Currently, they are working as the Director, Learning Systems and Online Student Success at the Community College of Baltimore County starting in 2023.
Helen Smetheram has a Graduate Certificate in Teaching the Adult Learner from The Johns Hopkins University. Helen also holds an M.S. in Special Education from The Johns Hopkins University. Furthermore, they earned a B.A. in Psychology/Music from Rollins College.
