Jackie Downing has a wealth of experience in grantmaking, nonprofit support, and development. Jackie has held various leadership positions in different organizations such as The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, Greater New Haven Community Loan Fund, Town of Hamden, Sacred Heart Academy, Dixwell Community "Q" House, and New Haven Symphony Orchestra. Jackie's responsibilities have included managing fundraising, special events, grant writing, public relations, and directing staff in youth development activities. Jackie holds a BA in Journalism from Southern Connecticut State University.

Established in 1928, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven is one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the US and remains the largest grantmaker in South Central Connecticut. The Foundation also works with professional advisors in helping to identify and offer solutions for their clients to make strategic philanthropic decisions. ** Connecticut Nonprofits – To strengthen the capacity of nonprofits in Greater New Haven, The Foundation distributes millions in grants, provides resources, workshops and education on best practices, and encourages community giving to local nonprofits through giveGreater.org and The Great Give. **Students – The Community Foundation administers scholarship funds for promising students and supports access to quality education and New Haven Promise to help area youth thrive.
