Vickie Alston has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Vickie started their career in 2003 as a Health Service Administrator at The University of Connecticut Health Center, where they played a key role in expanding statewide transitional services for individuals involved in the criminal justice system. Vickie also administered a Quality Improvement Program for mental health, medical, and dental services at CT Juvenile Detention Centers and residential facilities. In 2012, Alston joined Beacon Health Strategies as the VP of Health and Wellness, where they managed the implementation and contract oversight for integrated health and wellness programs. Vickie also developed and implemented an Integrated Care Coordination program that improved health outcomes for Husky Health CT members. In 2015, Alston joined The Connection, Inc. as the Director of Systems Integration before taking on the role of Acting Director of Behavioral Health Services. Overall, their work experience showcases their expertise in healthcare administration, program management, and strategic planning.
Vickie Alston obtained a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Connecticut in 1986. Vickie'sdegree focused on Administration Major and they minored in Clinical and Family Studies.
In terms of additional certifications, Vickie Alston received an Advanced and Enhanced Certification in Acceleration Resolution Therapy (ART) from the Rosenzweig Center for Rapid Recovery in 2015. Vickie also obtained a Certified Correctional Health Care Professional - Mental Health certification from the National Commission for Correctional Managed Health Care in 2008. In 2006, they became a Certified Field Instructor for Social Work Students (CIFI) through the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. Vickie Alston also holds a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work, which they obtained from the National Association of Social Workers Connecticut Chapter in 1994.

For 50 years, The Connection has been one of Connecticut's leading private, non-profit human service and community development agencies offering unique solutions to the problems of homelessness, mental illness, substance use and community justice rehabilitation. To accomplish this ambitious mission, our agency focuses our efforts in three key service areas: Family Support Services, Behavioral Health and Community Justice programs. The Connection's staff annually assists more than 13,000 people throughout the state of Connecticut who have experienced trauma in their lives and are struggling with substance abuse, mental illness, homelessness and community justice issues. The Connection maintains corporate offices in Middletown, and delivers services at 65 residential and outpatient sites to residents in an extensive number of communities in Connecticut, including New Haven, Hartford, Middletown, Groton, Norwich, New London, Bridgeport, Danbury, Torrington, Waterbury and many others.
