Doug O’Brien

Doug O'Brien is the President and CEO of the Cooperative League of the U.S.A. Doug has held this position since December 2017. Prior to this, they were the Executive VP for Programs at the National Cooperative Business Association CLUSA from November 2016 to December 2017. Before that, they were a Senior Policy Advisor for Rural Affairs at the White House Domestic Policy Council from January 2015 to October 2016.

From January 2008 to December 2008, Doug O'Brien was the Rural Vote Director for Obama for Ohio. From January 2006 to December 2006, they were a Senior Policy Advisor, Renewable Energy in the Iowa Governor's Office. Doug has also been an Adjunct Professor at Drake University School of Law from January 2004 to December 2008 and an Associate Professor at the University of Arkansas School of Law from January 2004 to December 2006. Additionally, they have been a Senior Staff Attorney at the National Agricultural Law Center/Drake Agricultural Law Center from January 2004 to December 2006.

Doug O’Brien received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Agricultural Law from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. Doug also received a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Iowa College of Law. Their undergraduate degree is a B.A. in English Language and Literature, General from Loras College.
