Martha Castañeda

Martha Castañeda is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in policy and international programs, currently serving as the Director of Policy & International Programs at The Council of State Governments West since January 2012. In this role, Castañeda oversees, manages, and coordinates various policy and international activities while leading a team dedicated to these initiatives. Previous positions include Director of International Programs and Program Manager for the U.S. - Mexico State Alliance Partnership, where responsibilities included project support and enhancing international engagement with stakeholders in Mexico and Canada. Earlier in their career, Castañeda held roles such as Outreach Director at the Conference of Western Attorneys General and served as Program Director for the Border Legislative Conference, focusing on collaboration between U.S. and Mexican state legislators. Castañeda earned a degree in Government and International Relations with an emphasis on Latin America from California State University-Sacramento.
