Joel Thornton has over three decades of journalism experience, primarily at The Dallas Morning News since September 1986, where Joel has served as Digital Copy Desk Chief and Copy Chief, leading the copy desk for two decades and earning multiple first-place awards for headline writing from the American Copy Editors Society and the Texas APME. Thornton also held the position of Assistant Politics Editor at various times and began his career as a Copy Editor and Slot Editor at the Lexington Herald-Leader from June 1984 to September 1986. Thornton earned a B.S. in Journalism from The University of Kansas and completed education at Lincoln High School and Lefler Junior High in Lincoln, Nebraska.
