Tom Huang is an accomplished journalist and educator with over 30 years of experience. Currently serving as the Assistant Managing Editor for Journalism Initiatives at The Dallas Morning News, Tom is instrumental in launching newsroom initiatives focused on funding local news, community engagement, and diversity in recruiting and training. Previous roles include Assistant Managing Editor for Features and Community Engagement, where Tom led a team covering arts and entertainment while overseeing significant community projects. Tom's editorial expertise was showcased during tenure as Sunday & Enterprise Editor, contributing to a Pulitzer Prize finalist coverage. In addition to these roles, Tom serves as Adjunct Faculty at The Poynter Institute, teaching writing and editing, and works as a consultant for the American Press Institute. Tom began a career in journalism at The Virginian-Pilot and holds degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, along with ongoing studies in the Sulzberger Executive Leadership Program at Columbia University.
