Shobana Ram

Shobana Ram is an experienced educator and artist currently serving as the Equity & Belonging (DEIB) Program Coordinator and 2nd Grade Head Teacher at The Dalton School since 2012. With a strong background in performing arts, Shobana has been a freelance dancer and vocalist since 1994, specializing in Bharata Natyam and trained in Carnatic music. Previous roles include Teaching Artist at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts and Learning Through an Expanded Arts Program, where Shobana focused on integrating the arts into K-12 education. Shobana has also contributed as a consultant for Hunter College Elementary School's admissions team and co-directed an Indian arts immersion camp. Education includes a Master’s degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Virginia.
