Scott Mc Kiernan has had a successful career in the field of photojournalism and media. Scott is the Chairman of the Board and Founder of Reportage Foundation, where they focus on reporting critical global, regional, and local issues. Scott is also the Chief Photographer at ZUMA Press Wire Service and the Publisher, Founder, Director of Photography, and Picture Editor at ThePicturesofTheDay.com. Additionally, Scott Mc Kiernan is the CEO and Founder of zReportage.com and ZUMA Press, Inc., the world's largest independent picture wire service. Scott is the Publisher, Editor in Chief, Picture Editor, and Founder of DOUBLEtruck Magazine, which showcases high-impact photography of important issues. Scott has also played key roles at Palm Beach Photographic Centre, The KONA Gallery and Photojournalism Center, and NPPA (National Press Photographers Association). Scott Mc Kiernan has shared their expertise as a Lecturer, Speaker, and Professor at UCLA Extension, teaching classes on photojournalism and marketing.

Scott Mc Kiernan's education history began in 1973 when they attended American University. Scott pursued a major in Ancient History during their time at the university but did not obtain a degree.

In 1974, Mc Kiernan moved on to the Hartford Art School, where they studied Film/Video and Photographic Arts, Conceptual Art, and Performance Art. Scott audited classes for credit at the Rhode Island School of Design from 1975 to 1977, which were recognized by the Hartford Art School. Their education at the Hartford Art School culminated in earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree.
