Maraki Shimelis Kebede, Ph.D. has a diverse range of work experience spanning over several years. Maraki is currently employed as an Education Research Consultant at The Decision Lab, starting in October 2022. Prior to that, Maraki worked at Penn State University as a Graduate Research Assistant from September 2014 to May 2020. Maraki also served as a Research Fellow at UNESCO, where they worked in the International Institute for Capacity Building in Africa from May 2018 to July 2018, and in the Social and Human Sciences Sector from February 2018 to May 2018. Additionally, Maraki worked as an Education Consultant at Geneva Global for a brief period in January 2018. Earlier in their career, they held positions at the University of Maryland as an Academic Advisor for At-Risk Students from October 2013 to June 2014, as a Graduate Assistant at George Washington University from August 2011 to May 2013, and in various roles at the University of Maryland, including Academic Advisor, Instructor, and Undergraduate Assistant, from 2006 to 2010. Lastly, Maraki started their professional journey at Montgomery College as a Teaching Assistant and Student Advisor from June 2004 to May 2006.
Maraki Shimelis Kebede, Ph.D. earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Educational Leadership/Comparative & International Education from Penn State University, where they studied from 2014 to 2019. Prior to this, they completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in International Education & Development at The George Washington University from 2011 to 2013. Maraki obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland between 2006 and 2008. Earlier, they completed an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Life Sciences at Montgomery College from 2004 to 2006.
