Barbara Kerr

Barbara Kerr, APR, Fellow PRSA, is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in media relations, public affairs, and journalism. Currently serving as a Features Writer at Desert Sun Media Group since October 2021, Barbara previously held the position of Chief Communications Officer for the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Ministries Corporation from 2012 to 2018, overseeing communications for various educational and care initiatives. Prior roles include Executive Director of Communications and Marketing at Clark College, where Barbara contributed to a department recognized with 62 awards, and various media relations positions at the U.S. Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service. Barbara's broadcast journalism career began at WYTV as a prime news anchor, becoming one of the first female solo anchors in the U.S. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Television-Radio from Ithaca College.
