Matt Thacker has a long and varied work experience. In 2021, they began working as the Chief Financial Officer for The Desire Company, where they are responsible for directing the finance and accounting activities of the corporation, including the preparation of financial reports, budgets, growth forecasts, and key projections. In 2010, Matt founded Aesop Apps and Virtual Vuvuzela, where they designed and produced a suite of ten iPhone mobile apps focused on pregnancy, parenting and child care, and recognized a trend in World Cup soccer then built a leading mobile application to capitalize on it, respectively. Matt also generated over 2 million downloads in iOS and Android App Stores and nearly 1 million App Store downloads in the first thirty days, respectively. In 2009, they founded ApplianceRebate, where they identified an opportunity in Energy Star appliances then led the design and development of a SaaS solution that tracked incentive rebates available from federal, state, and local municipalities. Matt sold the SaaS solution to leading manufacturers and retailers, and was acquired by GreenOhm. In 2005, Matt worked as an Auditor at PriceWaterhouse Coopers, where they utilized Big 4 methodology to conduct financial audits of privately held companies and conducted internal controls testing and examined reliability of management’s assertions using substantive procedures. In 2004, they founded The Classics Collection, where they conceptualized, produced, and marketed leading eBook literature compilation by assembling the works of great authors such as Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Charles Dickens, and Jane Austen into a single digital anthology. This was later acquired by ValuSoft. In 2003, they founded Academic Materials, where they provided electronic course packets to academic institutions by digitizing paper distance education courses into eBooks.

Matt Thacker obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Finance, Accounting, and Business Management from Indiana University Bloomington between 1996 and 2000. Matt then went on to obtain a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Finance from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business between 2006 and 2008. Additionally, they hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
