Stephen Hancock

Stephen Hancock serves as the Diocesan Secretary and Chief Executive at The Diocese of Exeter since July 2017, focusing on strategic and operational sustainability amid cultural changes. Prior to this role, Stephen served as Area Commercial Director at HSBC Commercial Banking from June 2008 to July 2017, overseeing business banking across Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset. Stephen’s extensive banking career began at Barclays Bank, where a 20-year tenure included roles as Relationships Manager and Local Business Area Manager, enhancing commercial banking operations from Hampshire to Cornwall. Stephen holds a degree in Leadership from Nottingham Trent University, earned between 2004 and 2006.
