Catherine Blakelock is an experienced educator and military officer, currently serving as the Director of Student Experience and a Middle School Mathematics Teacher at The Discovery School since July 2019. With a strong background in mathematics education, Catherine has previously held positions as a Lead Elementary Teacher and a Mathematics and Science Teacher at Dana Hall School. Additionally, service as a Captain in the Georgia Army National Guard showcases leadership skills, including roles as Firing Battery Commander and Battalion Fire Support Officer. Catherine began a teaching career through Teach For America and has experience in special education and curriculum development. Educated at Claremont McKenna College with a BA in Middle Eastern Studies and a Master's in Elementary Education from Relay Graduate School of Education, Catherine is dedicated to enhancing student learning and engagement.

Discovery is a diverse and inclusive independent day school that educates students aged 18 months to 12 years in a unique program blending the Montessori curriculum with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program framework. Discovery's mission is “We open our minds and hearts so we can discover the knowledge and ideals to build a better world." Discovery was founded in 1990 and is a qualified tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code. Discovery is accredited by the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the Florida Kindergarten Association, the American Montessori Society, and is an International Baccalaureate World School.
