The DJ Awards was formed in 1998 by José Pascual and Lenny Krarup to recognise and celebrate achievements in dance music. Since then the annual event has grown in reputation, scale and reach and is always attended by the biggest names in the electronic music industry. Previous winners include legends such as Daft Punk, Fernandisco, Pete Tong, Basement Jaxx and Carl Cox with previous awards held at Pacha and Hï Ibiza. Each year, hundreds of artists are considered for an ever evolving mix of categories that best reflect the sounds, trends, scenes and artists of the times. In 2024, the DJ Awards team created 10 music categories based on the hottest sounds in the world right now. These days, the DJ Awards are widely regarded as ‘The Oscars of Dance Music’ with all winners proud to note their DJ Awards in bios and interviews for years to come.
