Charles Olney has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Charles started their career as a Bid Manager at Hogg Robinson Group in 2000 and then moved on to roles such as Business Development Manager at Theodore Goddard and Allen & Overy. In 2005, Olney became the Head of Marketing and Business Development at Ashfords, a position they held until 2008 when they became the Director of Marketing and Business Development at Thomas Westcott.

From 2009 to 2010, Olney worked as the Tender Services Manager at ways2win ltd, where they focused on writing, editing, and reviewing competitive tenders for the public sector. Later in 2010, they took on the role of Head of Business Development and Marketing at Albert Goodman LLP. Olney's most recent position is as the Head of Marketing Operations at The Donkey Sanctuary, a role they began in December 2017.

Charles Olney obtained a degree in Geography with a focus on Physical Geography from UCL, where they studied from 1990 to 1993. Before attending UCL, they attended Wellington School in Somerset from 1981 to 1989, although no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period. In July 2021, Charles Olney obtained a certification as a CIM ACIM Member from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
