The Economist
James Miles is an accomplished journalist and expert on China, currently serving as a China writer-at-large for The Economist since August 2014, where responsibilities include covering internal developments in China and its global impact. Previously, Miles held various significant roles at The Economist, including China Editor and Beijing bureau chief. Other notable positions include Research Fellow for Asia and Editor of Strategic Comments at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Senior Chinese Affairs Analyst and Hong Kong correspondent at BBC, and Beijing bureau chief at BBC prior to that. Miles began a career in journalism as Beijing correspondent and South Asia correspondent for United Press International. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Chinese Studies from New College, Oxford University.
