Jocelyne Olguin

Occupational Therapist at The Emerge Center

Jocelyne is originally from the North MS/Memphis area and joined the Emerge team in August 2020. She completed her undergraduate studies in Kinesiology, Exercise Science at Mississippi College in 2017 and earned her Master of Occupational Therapy degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in May 2020. She gained invaluable pediatric clinical experience during her fieldwork at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where she worked with children with a variety of diagnoses including cerebral palsy, medically complex, down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder, developmental delay, infant CVA, and neonatal abstinence syndrome. In school, she also assisted in the design of two sensory trails for pediatric hippo therapy programs. Her second fieldwork was at an inpatient rehab facility in Memphis, TN where she gained knowledge and skills in working with adults with neurologic and orthopedic conditions. Jocelyne is fluent in Spanish and hopes to use this skill and her occupational therapy career to help individuals in the Spanish-speaking community receive the health and therapy services they need. Over the years, Jocelyne has spent time interacting with kids in the clinic, inside the classroom, and out in the community. The compassion, patience, encouragement and enthusiasm needed to work with children and their families is what draws Jocelyne the most to the pediatric population, and she is excited to help the children of Emerge achieve success in their daily occupations of learning, growing, and playing!
