Mary Helen Montgomery has a diverse work experience in the fields of marketing and communications, multimedia production, and journalism. Mary Helen is currently the Civic Storytelling Program Director at The Enterprise Center, where they oversee marketing and communications efforts focused on promoting digital equity in Chattanooga. Prior to this, they worked as the Marketing and Communications Director at The Enterprise Center, leading various marketing initiatives. Before joining The Enterprise Center, Mary Helen worked independently as a Podcast & Video Producer, creating content for popular shows such as Criminal Podcast and This American Life. Mary Helen also produced documentary-style videos for Baylor School and worked on The Chattanooga Memory Project with The Chattanooga Public Library. Additionally, Mary Helen gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at the Transom Story Workshop, where they helped students develop strong writing, narrative storytelling techniques, and technical skills for podcast and radio production. Mary Helen also worked as a Multimedia Reporter at the Chattanooga Times Free Press and as a Reporter/Producer for WUTC, Chattanooga's local NPR station. Mary Helen began their career as an intern at The Christian Science Monitor, The Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Mary Helen Montgomery attended Bowdoin College from 2005 to 2009, where they earned their B.A. degree. During their time at Bowdoin College, they studied Art History, Visual Art, and Education. In 2012, Mary Helen attended the Transom Story Workshop, but no degree or specific field of study is mentioned for this program.
