The Equity Initiative
Souliya Channavong is an experienced public health professional currently serving as a Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization Programme officer at the World Health Organization since November 2018. In this role, Souliya has provided technical support for the National Immunization Programme, contributed to the planning and monitoring of immunization campaigns, and collaborated with various health units to address high-risk communities. Additionally, Souliya is an Atlantic Fellow with The Equity Initiative, selected in 2023 to further develop healthcare leadership in Southeast Asia and China. Previously, Souliya held positions with the Pan American Health Organization, the World Health Organization as a Program Assistant, and worked in logistical support and healthcare settings across multiple internships. Souliya Channavong holds a Master's degree in Epidemiology from Michigan State University and a Bachelor's degree in Medicine from Guangxi Medical University.

The Equity Initiative
The Equity Initiative is an exciting program to nurture and facilitate the development of health equity leaders (500+) over a twenty-year period. The Initiative has two objectives: to cultivate and nurture the next generation of leadership through its fellowship program, and to build a collaborative community for promoting health equity in the region. This unique initiative is linked to global and regional institutions and partners, world-class expertise and knowledge, with long-term vision and committed sustained support, backed by a pooled fund from The Atlantic Philanthropies and the China Medical Board.
