Shafeeq Abrahams

Shafeeq Abrahams CA(SA) has a strong background in finance and leadership roles. From 2021 to present, they held the position of Chief Executive and Principal Officer at Eskom Pension and Provident Fund. Prior to this, from 2018 to 2021, they served as the Chief Financial Officer at the same company.

Before joining Eskom Pension and Provident Fund, Shafeeq Abrahams worked as the Chief Financial Officer at the National Home Builders Registration Council from 2014 to 2018. In this role, they were responsible for delivering strategic and financial direction, business improvement, and financial operation. Shafeeq also led the performance of the financial function and implemented investment strategies.

From 2001 to 2014, Shafeeq Abrahams worked at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd in various roles. Shafeeq served as the Finance Business Partner for Transmission and Distribution from 2011 to 2014, providing financial leadership, governance, and strategic recommendations. Prior to that, they were the Senior Manager of Financial Planning for Distribution from 2010 to 2011, where they developed long-range financial plans and provided strategic decision support. Shafeeq also served as the Regional Finance Manager from 2001 to 2009, managing the end-to-end financial function and implementing financial policies and procedures.

Shafeeq Abrahams CA(SA) completed their Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in Business/Commerce, General at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1992 to 1995. Shafeeq later pursued a Master's Degree in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika, completing it in 2008. In addition, they obtained a BCompt(Honours) CTA from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika from 1998 to 1999. Shafeeq Abrahams CA(SA) also holds several certifications, including being a Kaplan-Norton Balanced Scorecard Certified Graduate from Palladium: Strategy Consulting, a Certified Director from the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa, and a CA(SA) from SAICA CA(SA), obtained in May 2000.
