Catalin Iancu

Catalin Iancu is a highly experienced professional in the field of microbiology and food safety, currently serving as a Data Officer at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) since September 2023, focusing on microbiological hazards data collection. Iancu has a robust background in microbiology, having worked as a Senior Microbiology Scientist at Corbion from October 2017 to September 2023, overseeing food innovation projects and leading the Food Preservation Innovation Platform. Previous roles include positions as a Scientist at MICREOS, a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Loyola University Health System, and roles at University College Cork, where significant contributions were made to bacteriocin bioengineering and microbiological research. Iancu holds a BSc in Food Biotechnology from Universitatea „Dunărea de Jos” din Galați and has engaged in extensive research aimed at enhancing food preservation and safety through innovative biotechnology solutions.
