Ines Steffens

EFSA Journal Editorial Board Member at The European Food Safety Authority

Ines Steffens is an accomplished editor and public health professional with extensive experience in scientific communication and editorial roles. Currently serving as a member of the editorial board for the EFSA Journal since 2018, Ines has been the Editor-in-Chief of Eurosurveillance since April 2011, overseeing a peer-reviewed journal focused on epidemiology and communicable diseases in Europe. Ines held the position of Acting Head of Unit for Scientific Methods and Standards at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in 2024 and has been a prominent member of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), serving as vice-president from 2018 to 2023 and as a founding member and Chair of the EASE Nordic Chapter since 2023. Previous roles include Head of Section for Internal Communication and Knowledge Services at ECDC, Managing Editor at Eurosurveillance, and Editor-in-Chief of Germany's national epidemiological bulletin at the Robert Koch Institute.
