Gregory Barker, Lord Barker of Battle, is a British entrepreneur, strategic advisor, and former government minister with over 25 years of experience in the Green Economy. He has played a key role in shaping climate policy, leading sustainable businesses, and advising global corporations.
Since 2017, Greg has chaired the Electric Vehicle Network (EVN), helping it become a UK leader in EV fast-charging infrastructure. He also chairs Powerhive’s advisory board, supporting mini-grid and e-mobility solutions in Africa, and serves on the boards of the US-based media company Glassview, and ME Group.
As a member of parliament Greg Barker represented Bexhill & Battle from 2001 to 2015, and while in government became the UK’s longest-serving Minister of State for Energy & Climate Change. He spearheaded major energy reforms, including the expansion of the UK’s solar sector, the launch of the Green Investment Bank, and the introduction of the Renewable Heat Incentive. He also played a key role in international climate diplomacy, leading the UK’s first “Green” Trade Mission to East Africa.
Following his political career, Greg has chaired major international businesses in the low carbon economy, including En+ and Quercus, and co-chaired the World Bank’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (2020-2022). Nominated by Platts as global Metals & Mining CEO of the year in 2021 and recognized as a UN "Climate Leader" in the same year, he continues to advance the clean energy transition through strategic business and policy leadership.
