Chiseche Mibenge (she/her) is a human rights educator and researcher. She has previously taught at the CUNY Graduate Center, Lehman College, University of San Francisco, and Stanford University. She is the author of Sex and International Tribunals: The Erasure of Gender from the War Narrative (University of Pennsylvania Press) and the co-editor of the book series Human Rights Interventions (Palgrave MacMillan). Chiseche’s auto-ethnographic short stories have been published in Taint Taint Taint, the LARB PubLab, the Columbia Journal of Literature, and the Evergreen Review. She serves on the editorial boards of the Netherlands Quarterly of Human Rights and the Journal of Human Trafficking, Enslavement and Conflict-Related Sexual Violence. At present she works as the Director for Gender Initiatives at Episcopal Relief & Development.
Chiseche grew up in Lusaka, Quebec, Addis Ababa, and Limuru. She studied Law at the University of Zambia. She earned her PhD in international human rights law from Utrecht University in 2010.
