Karen Howard is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in financial reporting and compliance. Currently serving as a Senior Case Officer at the Financial Reporting Council since January 2018, Karen previously held the position of Head of Disclosure at Lloyds Banking Group, where management of a technical team focused on accounting standards and disclosure developments was paramount. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Finance Manager at Aviva, coordinating the Group Accounting Policy manual, and Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in assurance services for life assurance companies. Karen holds a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Financial Analysis from the University of Warwick, obtained in 1995.

Financial Reporting Council
The FRC is the UK's independent regulator serving the public interest by setting high standards of corporate governance, reporting and audit and by holding to account those responsible for delivering them. We set the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work. We represent UK interests in international standard-setting. We also monitor and take action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and auditing. We operate independent disciplinary arrangements for accountants and actuaries; and oversee the regulatory activities of the accountancy and actuarial professional bodies.
