Michael Hodges is an accomplished actuarial professional with extensive experience in financial leadership roles. Currently serving as Project Director at the Financial Reporting Council since August 2021, Michael previously held key positions including Head of Actuarial at The OneLife Company from July 2008 to July 2021, Life Actuary at Colonial Group International Ltd from October 2005 to July 2008, and Risk Management Actuary at HSBC from 2001 to 2005. Michael's career began as an Assistant Actuary at Scottish Life Assurance Company from 1990 to 1996, advancing to Finance Actuary at Scottish Life International between 1996 and 2001. Michael holds a BSc Hons in Mathematics from Durham University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science from Heriot-Watt University.

The FRC is the UK's independent regulator serving the public interest by setting high standards of corporate governance, reporting and audit and by holding to account those responsible for delivering them. We set the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work. We represent UK interests in international standard-setting. We also monitor and take action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and auditing. We operate independent disciplinary arrangements for accountants and actuaries; and oversee the regulatory activities of the accountancy and actuarial professional bodies.
