Tim Elwell

Tim Elwell is an experienced professional in public administration with a strong focus on education funding and program evaluation. Currently serving as Staff Director for Education Appropriations at The Florida Senate since November 2012, Elwell coordinates the development of Florida's annual education budget exceeding $20 billion. Prior roles include Staff Director for Education at OPPAGA, where evaluative research and accountability measures were emphasized, and as Manager for Program Effectiveness and Analysis at the Agency for Workforce Innovation, where accountability processes for early learning programs were improved. Elwell's earlier experiences include significant achievements as Director of Budget and Accountability at the Florida Department of Education, where initiatives led to substantial funding increases for workforce education programs, and as Director of Business Services overseeing budget preparations for the Community College System. Elwell holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Program Evaluation from The University of Georgia and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Georgia Southwestern State University.
