Kevin Maurer

Kevin Maurer currently serves as Chief of Staff at The Forward Fund, where responsibilities include coordinating with the CEO and staff to implement the organization's Strategic Plan and assisting in the development of a long-term strategic plan. Previous experience includes a role as Director of Communications at New Hanover Community Endowment, where Kevin developed a comprehensive communications strategy, and as Director of Community Engagement at Cape Fear Collective, focusing on community outreach and investment in affordable housing. Kevin has also contributed longform journalism for The Assembly, examining political power in North Carolina, and held editorial positions at several notable news organizations, including Local News Editor at StarNews, where Kevin led investigative reporting that garnered multiple awards. Kevin's journalism career began with The Fayetteville Observer and included significant coverage of military affairs, both domestically and internationally. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Old Dominion University and has experience in policy investigation related to workplace safety and health.
