Marien Buitenhuis has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different companies. Marien started their career at VodafoneZiggo in 2015 as a Project Manager for Netcool and SBC. In the same year, they also worked as a Project Manager for Cisco VoIP at Jumbo Supermarkten and as a Project Manager for Firewall at the Ministry of Economic Affairs. From 2011 to 2016, Marien worked at Dimension Data Nederland as a Project Manager ICT, where they managed integration projects and ensured the implementation of solutions within the customer environment. In 2017, they founded their own company called Buitenhuis Projects, where they took on the role of Owner. Marien also worked as a Technisch Project Manager at Rijkswaterstaat and PLUS Retail in 2017 and 2019 respectively. From 2016 to 2017, Marien held the position of Assortments Manager at the Ministry of Defense, where they were responsible for collecting ammunition needs and managing budgets. Marien also had the role of Manager Supplychain during this time. Additionally, they worked as a GTD Trainer and Corporal at the Ministry of Defense starting from 2006. Currently, Marien is working as a Technical Project Leader at Politie Nederland, where they started in 2020. In 2017, they joined The Future Group as a Business Information Analyst and also took on the role of Freelance Project Manager.

Marien Buitenhuis began their education in 1992 at Pascal College, where they obtained a MBO degree in Telecommunication in 1996. Afterward, from 1996 to 1997, they attended Utrecht College and earned another MBO degree, this time in Autotechniek / Bedrijfskunde. Then, in 1997, Marien enrolled at Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN) to pursue a Study in Autotechniek, which they completed in 2003.

In 2010, Marien attended Ruysdael for a Foundation program in PRINCE2, followed by a HBO degree in IPMA-C at Nimo Opleidingen in 2011. Furthermore, Marien returned to Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen (HAN) from 2018 to 2021 to study Bedrijfskunde.

Throughout their education, Marien obtained several certifications. They acquired "Ethical hacking" certification from zSecurity in July 2020 and "Lean management" certification from Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen in May 2020. Additionally, Marien became a certified Scrum Master in October 2017, achieved PRINCE2 certification from NIMO Project Management Instituut & NIMO Academy in December 2015, and obtained an IPMA certification from Projectmanagement.
