Peter van Cappelle

Peter van Cappelle has over 20 years of work experience in the field of data engineering and database administration. Peter started their career at Ordina in 2000, where they worked as a Senior Oracle DBA until 2003. Peter then moved on to various organizations, including Essent, Shell IT & Consultancy Services, and T-Systems Nederland B.V., where they continued to specialize in Oracle database administration.

In 2011, Peter joined Rabobank as a Senior Oracle DBA, participating in numerous database and Fusion Middleware projects. Peter was involved in both large and small-scale projects, most of which followed Agile methodologies. During their time at Rabobank, Peter gained experience in Python, Splunk, Oracle 12c, and Qualys.

In 2016, Peter joined Essent as a Senior Oracle DBA, focusing on Oracle Grid design, implementing proof-of-concepts, and setting up production environments. Peter also established a "near zero maintenance" approach for the production environment and successfully migrated all Oracle databases to the GRID.

Peter then transitioned to Rabobank ICT in the same year, working as an Oracle Specialist and Data Engineer. Peter was responsible for setting up and teaching Python workshops, integrating Oracle audit data with Splunk, and converting security guidelines into technical solutions. Peter also contributed to the GDPR project OPTIM.

Peter's most recent role was at Achmea, where they worked as a Hadoop Administrator and Data Engineer. Their responsibilities included configuring connectivity between sources and a Hadoop cluster using tools like SAS, RStudio, hiveodbc, webHDFS, livy, and sqoop.

In 2020, Peter joined Kadaster as a Data Engineer, showcasing their expertise in data engineering.

In 2022, they completed Microsoft Azure for Data Engineering, Data Storage in Microsoft Azure, and Data Integration with Microsoft Azure Data Factory, all from Coursera. Finally, in 2023, they obtained the Jenkins: Beginner to Pro certification from Udemy.
