Tozi Metztona, also known as Josh Camarena, has extensive experience in education with a focus on diversity and inclusion. Currently serving as the Founding Educator at The Gathering Place since January 2021, Tozi emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in educational settings. Previously, as an Inclusion Specialist at The DoSeum from November 2017 to November 2020, Tozi developed and evaluated accessible programming while building partnerships with community organizations. Additionally, in the role of Discovery Leader at The DoSeum, Tozi led field experiences for students and promoted caregiver-child interactions to enhance learning through play. Earlier experience includes a position as a Teacher Assistant at Pre-K 4 SA, where Tozi designed lesson plans for an extended day program catering to young learners.

The Gathering Place

The Gathering Place is a progressive public elementary school rooted in social justice and art in San Antonio. We nurture and celebrate what makes each child unique, what we call their inner-brilliance. We do this by prioritizing: - Project-Based Learning, originating from student interests and with equity work woven in - Restorative Practices - Daily Arts We opened in 2020, and currently serve 500 kids in grades Kinder-3rd, and will add one grade per year until we are K-2
