Julie Brown

Program Head, Injury Division at The George Institute for Global Health

Julie Brown is Program Head of the Injury Division at The George Institute for Global Health Australia, and works across the continuum of the public health model from defining problems, identifying risk and protective factors to developing and testing prevention measures with the ultimate aim of reducing the health burden attributable to unintentional injury.

She currently holds an NHMRC Career Development Fellowship (CDF). She was the top-ranked NHMRC CDF-1 applicant in 2012 and CDF-2 applicant in 2016 in her category. She has a particular interest in improving efficacy, accessibility and user-friendliness of injury prevention products and equipment.

Before completing her PhD in 2008, Julie had a long history working in Road Safety Research and Policy for the NSW government and this experience has greatly shaped her overall research approach and objective of identifying tangible and implementable solutions to reduce injury and its impact on society.
