Laura Pastore

Laura Pastore has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Laura worked as a Communications Coordinator (Editor) at CAMH, where they performed substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, and plain language editing for various print and online materials. Laura also provided editorial and project management support for texts targeting a range of audiences.

At The GIST, Laura held the positions of Lead Editor and Content Editor. As Lead Editor, they edited a twice-weekly newsletter focused on making sports more accessible and inclusive. Laura ensured content relevance and consistency in tone and style by revising contributions from various contributors. As Content Editor, Laura revised and edited content for the newsletter.

Laura also worked at ECW Press in various editorial roles. As Managing Editor, they successfully managed over 50 projects per year, coordinating with various departments and authors worldwide. Laura also contracted and oversaw the work of freelancers and collaborated with all departments to create marketing materials. In their role as Editor, Laura managed book projects, conducted substantive edits, copy edits, proofreading, and conducted photo research. As Assistant Editor, they provided copyediting and proofreading support, prepared reader's reports, and supported the marketing department. Laura also began their career at ECW Press as an Editorial Intern.

Additionally, Laura gained experience at the City of Vaughan as a Deck Supervisor/Head Lifeguard and Swim Instructor/Lifeguard. In these roles, they managed and supervised teams, maintained order and stability, made quick decisions, and ensured the safety and satisfaction of clients.

Laura's work experience also includes an internship at Nelson Education, where they worked independently on a catalogue for the Professional Trade and Resellers department. Laura wrote and edited detailed descriptions for over 300 titles, which were used by the sales team and distributed to retailers across Canada.

Laura Pastore earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from York University in 2012. Laura'smajor was Professional Writing, and they had a minor in Business Administration. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Publishing (MPub) degree at Simon Fraser University from 2012 to 2015.
