Dr. Estifanos Biru Shargie

Dr. Estifanos Biru Shargie is an accomplished public health professional with extensive experience in impact evaluation and disease control. Currently serving as a Senior Specialist at The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria since January 2009, Dr. Shargie coordinates health impact assessments and manages technical review processes to support high-impact countries in accessing funding. Previous roles include Director of Programs at The Carter Center, where oversight was provided for significant health initiatives, and National Professional Officer at the World Health Organization, focusing on TB and HIV strategies. Dr. Shargie's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Epidemiology and Public Health from the University of Bergen and a Master of Public Health from Boston University. Prior to these roles, leadership was provided in health program coordination and management at various organizations, including the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Health.
