Derek Gilman

Volunteer Advocate, Léogâne Kids at The Global Orphan Project

Derek Gilman is a Senior System Engineer at ManTech, specializing in systems engineering and acquisition strategy for Space Systems Command since September 2024. With extensive experience in the United States Air Force, Derek held various roles including Program Manager for Homeland Defense Radars, Deputy Program Manager for Long Range Discrimination Radar, and Branch Chief for Advanced Development and Architecture. Derek has also contributed to volunteer work with The Global Orphan Project since November 2012, advocating for the needs of at-risk children in Léogâne, Haiti. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, complemented by a Master's in Military Operational Art and Science from the USAF Air Command and Staff College.
