Erik Cameron has over 20 years of work experience in software engineering, web architecture, and general technology. In 2021, they began working as a Software Engineer for The Gnar Company, Inc. Prior to this, they were a Lead Software Engineer at Gearflow.com from 2020 to 2021, where they designed and implemented a high volume catalog consisting of a front end ETL system using Phoenix and Elasticsearch, and a back end data pipeline built on Postgres, Ecto and Broadway, with declarative, extensible workflows based on finite state machines. From 2009 to 2019, they were a Program Officer and then Director for Data Applications at the American Library Association, where they were a Ruby engineer, web architect, Unix admin, and general technologist. Erik was also the designer and developer of Apply, a Rails-based platform for grant application, review and administration with over 8,000 registered users. From 2005 to 2009, they were a Production Controller for the Astronomy Journals Group at the University of Chicago Press. From 1998 to 2001, they were a Unix System Administrator at the University of Chicago. Prior to this, they worked as ISP Technical Support for MCSNet and MegsInet from 1996 to 1998.
Erik Cameron attended Reed College from 2001 to 2005 and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy.
