Rachel Maryan has extensive work experience in the hospitality industry. Rachel started their career at the Kingswood Golf and Country Club in 1999 as a Food and Beverage Supervisor. Rachel then worked at Hilton Hotels from 2002 to 2008 as a Food and Beverage Manager. In 2007, they joined The Chamberlain Hotel as a Food Beverage Manager. From 2009 to 2013, they worked as a General Manager at the Charing Cross Theatre and the Players Bar and Kitchen. Since 2013, they have been serving as the Head of Operations at The Guildhall Trust.

Rachel Maryan attended Horndean Community School from 1992 to 1996. Later, from 1996 to 1998, they studied Hospitality Management at City of Portsmouth College.

Initially established as a not-for-profit Distributing Organisation (NPDO) by Portsmouth City Council in 2010, Portsmouth Cultural Trust became a registered charity in 2013.
