The GW Hatchet, founded in 1904, is an editorially and financially independent newspaper serving The George Washington University community in downtown Washington, D.C. It is the second oldest newspaper in the city. The Society of Professional Journalists named The Hatchet the best non-daily college newspaper in the nation for 2003-2004, and again in 2006-2007.
