Design Comp Director at The Harvard Crimson

Julia Freitag has a diverse work experience. Julia started their career as a Research Intern for the Mediated Matter Group at MIT Media Lab in 2020. Julia then worked as a Tutor for the Community of Volunteer Educators (COVE), where they developed and taught individualized academic programming to eighth graders in under-resourced communities. Julia also volunteered as a Volunteer Teacher for the Association to Benefit Children (ABC), where they created a computer science curriculum and tutored students. In 2021, they worked as a Maker Fellow at MakerState, developing a math curriculum unit for public schools. Julia joined the Harvard Laboratory for Developmental Studies in 2022 as a Research Assistant, aiding in the design of a study on intuitive physics in infants. Julia also served as a Design Editor and later as the Design Comp Director for The Harvard Crimson, a student-run newspaper. In 2022-2023, Julia interned as a UX/UI and Marketing Intern at ABXR Studio, where they contributed to user surveys, marketing emails, and quality control testing. Julia joined the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2023 as a Research Assistant, focusing on developing a web app for collecting self-reports from novice coders. Currently, Julia works at HCS Tech for Social Good, first as a Product Researcher & Designer, then as a Senior Designer, and now as a UX Project Manager. Their responsibilities include leading a team, coordinating prototype development, and conducting user research. Julia also interned as a Product Analytics Intern at Civic Roundtable.

Julia Freitag attended The Dalton School from 2008 to 2021, where they earned their High School Diploma. Following that, they enrolled at Harvard University in 2021 and expects to graduate in 2025 with a Bachelor's degree. Their field of study at Harvard University is Computer Science, Mind Brain Behavior.
