Meera Burgess

Council Member at The Health and Care Professions Council

Meera is a health professional with varied and practical experience across regulation, research, practitioner development and patient engagement, with a focus on equality, diversity and inclusion to create equal access for all. She currently runs a community engagement programme to address racial inequalities and develop service delivery within an NHS partnership.

She is also co-director of an organisation that supports young people and educators to challenge gender-based barriers in an educational setting. She is an experienced facilitator, trainer and public speaker.

Meera's academic background is in medical linguistics and she uses this to inform work including health promotion, patient communication and the use of health-related texts such as policy, guidance and care pathways. She has presented both nationally and internationally on her work.
