Atinuke Apena has a diverse range of work experience. Atinuke started their career as a Medical Laboratory Assistant at NHS in November 2018, where they excelled in tasks such as booking patient samples, interacting with healthcare professionals, and maintaining professionalism in fast-paced environments. After their tenure at NHS, Atinuke joined Snappy Science as a Writer in September 2019. Atinuke contributed to an Instagram-based blog that aimed to make scientific topics accessible and engaging to the general public.

In March 2020, Atinuke moved on to working as a Supporter Engagement Officer at Parkinson's UK. Here, they demonstrated their skills in engaging with supporters and managing events. Atinuke also took on additional responsibilities as a Research Engagement and Events Officer, where they assisted the Research Team in launching the Par-Con Research Conference. Over the course of three days, the conference attracted over 2000 participants from 44 different countries.

In May 2022, Atinuke transitioned to the role of Digital Communications Officer at The Health Foundation. Atinuke was responsible for managing the organization's digital communications and later took on the role of Communications Officer, focusing on marketing and engagement.

Atinuke Apena completed their education in Human Biology and Psychology from Keele University from 2015 to 2018.
