Nick Bateson has significant work experience in the finance and government sector. Nick is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer of The Health Foundation since October 2022. Previously, they held the position of Chief Finance Officer and Director of Finance, Planning and Performance at the Office for National Statistics from November 2017 to October 2022.
Prior to that, Bateson worked at the UK National Audit Office from 2002 to 2017. During their time there, they held various roles, including Director - Whole of Government Accounts and Financial Regulation from September 2015 to November 2017, Director - Whole of Government Accounts and HM Treasury group from September 2013 to September 2015, Director - Department for Transport from January 2011 to September 2013, Audit Manager from September 2008 to January 2011, and Audit Principal and Trainee from August 2002 to September 2008.
In their roles at the UK National Audit Office, Bateson was responsible for managing audits on various government sections, including Justice and Parliament. Nick also played a key role in designing an IFRS training program across the government.
Nick Bateson's education history starts in 1997 when they attended the University of Nottingham. Nick completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at this institution in the year 2000. Following that, in 2002, they enrolled at ICAEW, where they earned their ACA qualification. From 2008 to 2009, Nick attended the Roffey Park Institute to study Organizational Leadership, during which they completed a program but did not receive a degree. Later, in 2014, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Imperial College London, graduating in 2016. Most recently, in 2021, Nick attended the London Business School for the Senior Executive Programme, although no degree was specified for this period.
